Mr. Herald has composed the theme music for the PBS series Washington Week in Review, the NBC Special Not Without Hope, the orchestral score for the award-winning PBS Special Air Force One: the Planes and the Presidents, and the theme music for the Mr. Wizard Nickelodeon series Teacher to Teacher. Mr. Herald's accomplishments include a commissioned arrangement of We Shall Overcome for Orchestra and Jazz Band for the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra, and acting as the musical arranger for the 2000 CBS Montreaux Jazz Festival Special. His American Images was premiered July 4, 2004 by Birmingham-Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra, with Mr. Herald conducting. His original score for the documentary, Journey to Justice, has garnered critical acclaim. Grand Design, a work for a 275 musician orchestra, premiered in 2007. May of 2008 saw the premier of Fantasie on Danny Boy, a work for two soloists and five antiphonal flute choirs, which was commissioned as a tribute to Sir James Galway.
